Projects are the building blocks that support HoneyBook's range of features. Within a project, you can create and send files, communicate with clients by email, track your time and tasks, set your project dates, and more.
📚 Tip
Before you begin, consider customizing your project types, lead sources, and other project fields to make sure they fit your brand.
Add a new project
On the web
From any page in the top-right corner, select + New > Project
Alternatively, if you want to bring leads and clients from another CRM or spreadsheet into your HoneyBook pipeline where one project is created per contact, see Import leads and clients into your pipeline in HoneyBook for full step-by-step instructions
Enter the project's name, then select the project type (required), plus any optional details
Select Create project
In the mobile app
Projects created in the mobile app are added to your pipeline's “Inquiry” stage in case you return to HoneyBook on the web.
In the bottom-right corner, select
Add (plus icon) > ProjectAlternatively from the navigation menu, select Projects. Then, select
Add (plus icon) > Project
Enter the project's name, then select the project type (required), plus any optional details
Select Next: add client to project
Select Skip, or add your clients to the project by selecting existing clients or creating new ones
You'll land in the project workspace, where you can send emails, create files, take notes, add more project details, and more, all in the mobile app
Edit a project in the mobile app
If anything changes while you're away from your computer — like another client needs to be added — you can update the project in the mobile app too.
From the navigation menu, select Projects
Find and select the project you want to edit
Use the pipeline at the top of your screen to filter the list
In the project workspace, select in the top-right corner
More options (vertical ellipsis icon) > Edit detailsMake your changes
Select Save
Set project dates
A project date can represent an event date, a final deliverable due date, the length of time you're working with a client, or a project end date — and you're not limited to just one.
If your project spans more than one event — like an engagement session, wedding day, and rehearsal dinner — add each as a separate date on the same project. Every date appears on your HoneyBook calendar, so there's no need to create duplicate projects or track extra dates outside of HoneyBook.
📣 Note
Additional project dates used to be visible only inside the project, not on your calendar. Now every date you add to a project — primary date, end date, or additional date — syncs to your calendar automatically.
On the web
Open the project you want to set dates for — use the search bar, your pipeline, or create a new one using the steps above
From the project workspace, select Details
Under “Date & location,” set the project date and time
This is your primary date, which appears on your HoneyBook calendar as soon as it's set.
For more flexibility, you have 2 additional options:
Enter an end date and time to give the project a date range. For example, a multi-day shoot or a project running through a delivery window.
Select + Add another date to add any number of additional dates and times — one for each event tied to the project (engagement session, ceremony, reception, rehearsal dinner, and so on)
All of these — your primary date, end date, and any additional dates — appear on your HoneyBook calendar. Adding a date doesn't automatically block your availability for new client bookings. To control whether a date blocks off your schedule, set your session scheduling availability.
In the mobile app
From the navigation menu, select Projects
Find and select the project you want to edit
Use the pipeline at the top of your screen to filter the list
