Import leads and clients into your pipeline in HoneyBook

Learn how to import a spreadsheet of leads and clients into your HoneyBook pipeline — including how to map fields, select sheets, and let AI handle column detection

If you have a list of leads and clients saved outside of HoneyBook, you can bring them into your project pipeline to manage all your opportunities and active projects in one place. One project is created per contact or lead imported.

📣 Note

This feature is only available on the web.

Before you start: Prepare your file

  1. Export your leads or clients from your existing CRM or spreadsheet tool

  2. Make sure your file meets the requirements below before uploading

File requirements

  • Format: CSV, XLS, or XLSX

  • Maximum 500 items per import

  • Email isn’t required for project imports — but is required when importing contacts from the Contacts page

Import your leads and clients

Create a project manually

  1. From the navigation menu, select Projects

  2. Select Create new

    • Alternatively, select the dropdown by Create new > Create manually

  3. Enter the project's name, then select the project type and stage (required)

  4. Add any optional details

  5. Select Create project

Import from Gmail

  1. From the navigation menu, select Projects

  2. Select Import from Gmail

    • Alternatively, select the dropdown by Create new > Import from Gmail

  3. If you haven't connected your Gmail account yet, follow the prompts

Import a spreadsheet

  1. From the navigation menu, select Projects

  2. Select the dropdown by Create new > Import spreadsheet

  3. Drag and drop your file, or select Browse files to upload

  4. Review the list of projects and contacts to import, and uncheck any you'd like to exclude

    • If your file has multiple sheets, select which sheet(s) you want to import — you can select more than one

  5. Select Manage fields to map your file's columns to HoneyBook fields

    • Unmatched fields won't be imported

    • If your file doesn't have column headers, uncheck My file has headers and use the dropdowns to label each column. HoneyBook AI automatically detects and maps column headers — including ambiguous header names, duplicate columns, and common CRM export formats — so you'll spend less time manually matching fields.

    • To skip a specific column, select Do not import for that field

    • Select Preview when you're done

  6. Select Import

    • Your leads and clients will be added to your pipeline and Contacts page

    • A project is created for each individual, and all contact-specific values are mapped to the right fields. From there, you can start communicating with them right from the project workspace.

Integrate with another CRM

  1. From the navigation menu, select Projects

  2. Select the dropdown by Create new > Integrate with other CRM

  3. Select a tool, then follow the instructions and prompts
