Why can't I assign a signature to anyone?
Why can't I assign a signature to anyone?
There's a couple of reasons you might not be able to assign a signature in your contract:
If you're editing a template (as in, you started from the My Templates screen), the contract won't be attached to a project, so there isn't anyone to assign the signature to just yet.
To fix this, use the template in a project. From there, an assignee will appear (which by default will be the first participant in the project)
If you are using the contract in a project, you might not have any participants added to the project yet
To fix this, add a participant to the project

Can I sign my contract before I send it to my client?
No, you can't sign a contract before sharing the file with your client. You'll be able to sign the contract as soon as it's sent. No need to resend the contract once you sign—your client's version of the file will automatically reflect that update.

If you need to adjust the contract after it's sent (like if you need to change dates in the service agreement), you can edit and resend the smart file.
