Edit a file that's already been sent

If you catch an error or your client changes their mind, here's how to update the file to reflect the change.

Regardless of whether your client has responded in a smart file, you can make changes. If you ever need to revert to a previous version of a smart file, you can review it's version history.

If your client has taken action on the file (for example: a contract was signed), you might be required to notify the client of any changes.

  1. Use the search bar or select Projects from the top navigation menu to find the project that holds the smart file you need to edit

  2. Find the smart file in your activity feed > open the file's File Summary by selecting it

  3. Select Edit File

  4. Make your changes > select Publish Changes

  5. Decide whether you want to notify the project participants of the change

    1. We recommend that you always let your clients know a change was made (and in some cases, you'll be required to)

  6. If you decide to send an email, adjust the email's copy as needed > select Send

  7. From here, your changes will be live
