Project management FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions around projects in HoneyBook.

Updated over a week ago

What happens when you archive a project?

When you archive a project it is no longer active in your project pipeline:

  • The project will be hidden from your main pipeline

  • Clients will no longer receive automated messages, payment reminders, or any other communication from your HoneyBook account

  • Any automated or recurring payments that were previously set up will be stopped

  • All files within the project will expire, meaning you can still access them but no further action can be taken by you or your clients

  • The project will be removed from the active stages of your project pipeline

  • The project date (or date range) will be removed from your HoneyBook Calendar and any external synced calendars

  • Outstanding payment information will be removed from your Payments

What happens when you unarchive a project?

When you un-archive a project, it becomes active again in your project pipeline:

  • All previously-sent files will remain expired, but you can manually un-expire specific files if you want your clients to still take action on them

  • You can create and share new files

  • Clients can make payments within the project, specifically on any invoices you've un-expired

  • Any automations that were active in the project will be completely removed

What happens when files are unexpired?

Reactivating a smart file will allow your clients full access again, and enable them to complete any actions that still need to be finished.

Smart files with invoices

To reactivate a smart file with an invoice, automatic payments and reminders will resume. You have two options when reactivating:

  • Edit the smart file before reactivating and re-sharing

  • Reactivate without making any changes

If your smart file had payments, especially if they were set for autopay, please carefully review the payment schedule before reactivating. Invoices with automatic payments will immediately process any overdue autopay payments upon reactivation. If you don't want these payments to process immediately, make sure to edit the payment schedule before reactivating.

Smart files with contracts

Both you and your client will be able to add signatures to the file (if not previously added).

Smart files with service selections or questions

If not previously submitted, clients will be able to make selections/answer questions and submit.
