How to add a task to a specific project or your main task list

Updated over a week ago

Tasks in HoneyBook are your internal to-do list, visible only to you and your team—not your clients—making them a great way to keep your projects organized.

Note

Not all tasks have to be tied to a specific project. You can also use the Tasks tool to manage tasks that aren't for a project.

Add a task for a project

Tasks related to your project are connected to that specific project. You can see them in the project itself and in your main list of tasks. Your teammates who have been included in projects with tasks can also see and make changes to the tasks.

1. Find and open the project you'll add the task to by using the search bar or selecting Projects in the top nav menu

a. If you selected Projects, you'll land on the project pipeline

b. From here, find and open the project

2. In the section labeled Only visible to you, select Tasks

a. If a task was already added to this project, select Add task instead

3. Label the task, give it a due date, and assign the task by selecting the profile photo

a. The task details will automatically save as you add or change them

From here, the task can be found in the Only visible to you section for only this project as well as in your Tasks tool. If the tasks you were expecting to see disappear, you need to adjust your project task list's status filter.

Note

When you're ready to mark that task complete, select the empty circle next to it. You can review completed tasks by changing the project task list's status filter.

Adjust the project task list's status filter

Review the list of things that still need to be done, the ones that are due today, the ones that have been finished, and more by changing the filters on the project task list. When you select a new status filter, only those tasks will appear in the task list.

  1. Return to the project that holds the task list you want to review

  2. In the section labeled Only visible to you, find your Tasks

  3. Change the filter for the task list by selecting the clipboard > select what status filter you want to use

    1. You'll see how many tasks have each status when viewing the filter options

Delete a project task

If a task is no longer important or necessary, you can remove it to ensure that your list of tasks remains accurate and up-to-date. Keep in mind that once a task is deleted, it cannot be restored, so be cautious and double-check before deleting any tasks.

Don't delete tasks you've completed. Instead, mark a task as complete by selecting the empty circle next to them.

  1. Find and open the project you'll delete a task for by using the search bar or selecting Projects in the top nav menu

    1. If you selected Projects, you'll land on the project pipeline

    2. From here, find and open the project

  2. In the section labeled Only visible to you, find the task you want to delete

  3. Hover over the task > select the trash can icon that appears
