Import leads to your pipeline
Import leads to your pipeline

Add leads from across your systems into HoneyBook to manage your opportunities and active projects from one place.

Updated this week

If you have leads and clients saved and tracked outside of HoneyBook, you can bring them into your project pipeline to keep your project and relationship management all in one place. We’ll cover how to import leads to your pipeline below.

Before you begin

You’ll need to have a spreadsheet with your projects ready to load into HoneyBook. Check the file requirements below

File requirements

Your file must meet these requirements to be accepted:

  • The file must be in .CSV, .XLS, or .XLSX format

    • You can save any Google Sheet or Excel file as a .CSV file by selecting File > Download/Save As > Comma Separated Values (.csv)

  • At minimum, the client’s/lead’s email must be included in the file

  • Up to 500 items can be uploaded in the same file

File column headers

Here are the HoneyBook fields you’ll match your columns to when uploading your file:

  • Email (required)

  • Project name

    • If this isn’t mapped, HoneyBook will use a default project name (i.e., {Your Name} Project)

    • Project names can be up to 100 characters

    • If this isn’t mapped, HoneyBook will use a default project type

    • Up to 10 project types can be used

  • Contact’s full name

  • Contact’s first name

  • Contact’s last name

  • Organization

    • Up to 80 tags can be added

    • Up to 18 lead sources can be used

    • This is the pipeline stage of the project

    • Up to 20 stages can be used

  1. From the top navigation bar, select Projects

  2. Select the down arrow next to Create New > Import Data

  3. Upload your file

  4. After your file finishes uploading, match the file column headers to their related HoneyBook fields > select Next

    1. HoneyBook will attempt to match fields to your file headers when you upload (you can adjust the mapping once the upload is complete)

    2. You can opt not to import fields as well

  5. Review the list of projects you'll import > select Import

    1. Updated contacts will have an icon next to their name (if the contact's email address is already present in your HoneyBook contacts list, you'll see this icon)

Sometimes, records included in your file can fail to upload. If this happens, download the report to see what leads/projects failed, and the can be uploaded separately.
