How to link an external bank account or card

Link your accounts and cards to power your Finance Overview and get greater visibility of your business finance from one place.

When you link your accounts and cards, HoneyBook can sum up your balances and expenditures to inform you of your financial situation. Keeping tabs of all your bank account balances and card expenditures in one place can help you understand your business’s financial health and help you get more informed decisions.


Link an external bank account or card

One of the first steps you can take to seeing your financial health all in one place is to link your external bank accounts or cards to HoneyBook. You’ll link the accounts or cards from the External funds section of the Finance Overview page.

  1. From the top navigation bar, select Finance > select Overview

  2. In the External funds section, select Link account

  3. Link your account through Plaid. HoneyBook does not store your account credentials.

    1. Visit Plaid’s help center to resolve any error messages you get at this step.

Once you finish linking your account, it should appear in the External funds section.

View specific account balances

Once you’ve linked a bank account or card, you can see that account’s balance right from the External funds section. If you link an external bank, all the accounts (and their balances) you have with that bank will be pulled in. These accounts will appear under the bank and will show their individual balances. The number next to the bank name is the sum of those accounts.


Relink accounts or cards

If there was an interruption between Plaid and your linked account, HoneyBook will notify you when you land on the Finance Overview page.

  1. In the External funds section, find the unlinked account or card

  2. Hover over the unlinked account or card > select Reconnect

  3. Go through Plaid’s process to relink your account


Rename a linked account or card

You can give a nickname to any account or card you link to help you remember what they’re for.

  1. In the External funds section, find the account or card you want to rename

  2. Hover over the account or card, then select the triple-dot icon > select Rename

  3. Enter the nickname > select Save


Delete a linked account or card

You can remove linked accounts or cards at any time. If you choose to do this, the account or card you delete will no longer be factored into your financial snapshot.

  1. In the External funds section, find the account or card you want to rename

  2. Hover over the account or card, then select the triple-dot icon > select Delete

  3. Read the warning message > select Delete
