How to use the AI composer for your emails

How the AI composer for works, and how you can use its suggested responses to get back to leads and clients in record time

HoneyBook's AI composer generates personalized email responses, which you can quickly edit and send. We'll cover how to use the AI composer below.


Use cases

AI composer for leads

  • The AI composer for leads will automatically suggest a response when:

    • A new lead comes in via HoneyBook contact form or lead form

    • Note that more communication history may be needed for the AI composer to suggest a response for leads that come in through Zapier

  • The AI composer for leads works by automatically drafting up responses, using the content of the contact or lead form submission and your company details

AI composer for projects

  • The AI composer for projects will automatically suggest a response when:

    • At least 2 client emails have been sent in the project

  • The AI composer for projects works by automatically drafting up responses using historical communication details (if any), your company details, and project details

AI custom prompts

  • Use AI custom prompts whenever you need extra help crafting a message

  • AI custom prompts work by allowing you to enter custom prompts that are used to generate a message


How to use the AI composer for leads and projects

On desktop

  1. Find and open the inquiry or project that holds a new client response. You can:

    • Click the notification you receive that lets you know the suggested response is ready

    • Use the search bar

    • Or, select Projects from the top navigation menu

  2. In the project workspace, select Review draft

  3. The AI-generated response will appear. From here:

    • Select the Refresh icon to generate a new response

    • Select the Thumbs up or Thumbs down icons to rate the response

    • Update the AI-generated response to better fit the situation by selecting a follow-up prompt

  4. Select Review before sending

  5. Edit the email if needed

  6. Click Send

The email will appear in the project’s activity feed and the client's email inbox.

On mobile

For new leads, you’ll receive a mobile push notification when the suggested response is ready. To ensure no leads go missed, enable push notifications.

  1. Find and open the project or inquiry that holds a new client response. You can:

    • Tap the notification you receive that lets you know the suggested response is ready

    • Use the search icon from your home screen

    • Tap into the Projects tab

  2. In the project workspace, swipe up on the AI composer to open the suggested response

  3. From here:

    • Select the Refresh icon to generate a new response

    • Select the Thumbs up or Thumbs down icons to rate the response

    • Update the AI-generated response to better fit the situation by selecting a follow-up prompt

  4. Tap Review before sending

  5. Edit the email if needed

  6. Select Send

The email will appear in the project’s activity feed and the client's email inbox.


How to use custom prompts

On desktop

  1. Find and open the project you want to send a message in by using the search bar or selecting Projects from the top navigation menu

  2. Next to where you'd start writing your message, select the AI composer icon

  3. Enter your prompts > select Draft email with AI

    1. The AI-generated response will appear

  4. From here:

    • Select the Refresh icon to generate a new response

    • Select the Thumbs up or Thumbs down icon to rate the response

    • Update the AI-generated response to better fit the situation by selecting a follow-up prompt

    • Adjust your original prompt by selecting Instruct AI > updating your prompt

  5. Select Review before sending

  6. Edit the email if needed

  7. Select Send

The email will appear in the project’s activity feed and the client's email inbox.

On mobile

  1. Find and open the project you want to send a message in by using the search icon from your home screen or the Projects tab

  2. Tap Send email > AI composer icon

  3. Enter your prompts > tap Draft email with AI

    1. The AI-generated response will appear

  4. From here:

    • Tap the Refresh icon to generate a new response

    • Tap the Thumbs up or Thumbs down icon to rate the response

    • Update the AI-generated response to better fit the situation by selecting a follow-up prompt

    • Adjust your original prompt by tapping Instruct AI > updating your prompt

  5. Tap Review before sending

  6. Edit the email if needed

  7. Select Send

The email will appear in the project’s activity feed and the client's email inbox.
