Updated this week

Before you start

  • This article applies to U.S.-based HoneyBook members only. HoneyBook doesn’t issue 1099 forms to Canadian members.

  • HoneyBook doesn’t provide tax advice. Always consult a qualified tax professional for guidance.

  • 1099 forms reflect gross payments processed through HoneyBook, not net income

Know what 1099 forms HoneyBook issued

HoneyBook issued one or both of the following forms, depending on your activity.

1099-K

This form reports credit card and ACH payments processed through HoneyBook within a calendar year.

  • It shows the total gross amount processed

  • It doesn’t include refunds, credits, discounts, or fees

  • Payments marked as paid are excluded because they weren’t processed through HoneyBook

1099-NEC

This form reports non-employee compensation.

Reporting thresholds

You received a 1099 if you met IRS or state-level income thresholds.

Federal 1099-K threshold for 2025

HoneyBook issued 1099-K forms to those who met both of the following thresholds:

  • More than $20,000 USD in payments processed through HoneyBook, and

  • 200+ transactions processed through HoneyBook

If either requirement wasn’t met, HoneyBook didn’t file a federal 1099-K.

State-specific thresholds for 2025

Some states required lower thresholds. HoneyBook filed a 1099-K if your income exceeded the following:

State

1099-K reporting threshold

Arkansas

$2,500 USD

District of Columbia

$600 USD

Illinois

$1,000 USD and 4+ transactions

Maryland

$600 USD

Massachusetts

$600 USD

Montana

$600 USD

New Jersey

$1,000 USD

Rhode Island

$100 USD

Vermont

$600 USD

Virginia

$600 USD

Understand what income was included

Your tax forms reflect payment activity recorded by HoneyBook’s payment processor.

  • 1099-K includes total credit card and ACH payments processed during the tax year

  • 1099-NEC includes referral income only

  • These amounts weren’t adjusted for refunds, fees, or discounts

  • Your tax advisor can help you account for adjustments when filing

What wasn’t included on a 1099-K

Only payments processed through HoneyBook’s payment processor were reported on a 1099-K. The following weren’t included:

  • Payments collected outside of HoneyBook, including cash, checks, or external transfers

  • Manually recorded payments

  • Refunds, credits, discounts, or processing fees

If a payment wasn’t processed through HoneyBook, it won’t appear on the 1099-K, even if it was recorded in your project or payment history.

Confirming your tax and business information

If you received your 1099, HoneyBook had your accurate tax information on file. You were previously asked to provide:

  • Your legal or business name

  • Your tax identification number (SSN or EIN)

  • Your address

The information would’ve matched official government records.

  • If you filed as an individual: Confirm your SSN and personal legal name were recorded with the Social Security Administration

  • If you filed as a business: Confirm your EIN and business name were recorded with the IRS. This applies to common business structures, including:

    • Sole proprietorships with an EIN

    • Single-member LLCs

    • Multi-member LLCs

    • Partnerships

    • S corporations (S corps)

    • C corporations (C corps)

  • The business name entered in HoneyBook must’ve matched IRS records exactly

Request a change to your 1099 information

HoneyBook officially filed 1099 forms with the IRS. If you were eligible, you can now view and download your 1099 directly in HoneyBook Tax Hub.

  1. Contact our Support team in either of these ways:

  2. A Support team member will review your request and guide you through next steps

  3. HoneyBook will then submit a corrected 1099 to the IRS

  4. You’ll see both the original and corrected forms in Tax Hub
