Answers to commonly asked questions around project types, automated payment reminders, and more.

How do different industries use project types?

The industry you're in will help inform what your project types might be and how you should name them. To determine the best approach for your own projects, consider whether it is more logical to categorize them based on clients, pricing, or services.

Here are some examples of how folks organize their work through custom project types:

  • A venue's project types might list: "Wedding," "Birthday Party," "Corporate Event," etc.

    • Or, if they're exclusively a wedding venue, their project types might instead list: "Gold Package," "Silver Package," "Bronze Package," etc.

  • A business coach might list their project types as: "3 month coaching," "6 month coaching," "9 month coaching," etc.

  • A graphic designer might list their project types as their services: "Web Design," "Logo Design," Branding Guide," etc.

The most common ways members use their project types is defining their projects by:

  • Clients (client type a, client type b, etc.)

  • Pricing (package a, package b, etc.)

  • Services (service a, service b, etc.)

Can I swap my email address to one that was used for an old account?

If you've created multiple HoneyBook accounts to try it out over the years before settling in, you won't be able to swap the emails yourself. To swap the emails on the different HoneyBook accounts you own, contact support.

How can I customize automated payment reminders?

You can edit the message and subject line of the automated payment reminders. However, you can't set up custom reasons for automated payment reminders (like sending a reminder 30 days after a contract is signed) from your Preferences settings. You'll want to explore automations for more complex tasks like this.

Why aren't my clients receiving payment reminders?

If your clients aren't receiving payment reminders, you'll first want to check that the automated payment reminders you want to send are turned on, then take steps to make sure your emails aren't getting marked as spam.
