FAQ: Tips and invoices

Answers to commonly-asked questions about how tips and invoices work in HoneyBook

Updated over a week ago

How can I have my clients tip only on the last payment?

Want your clients to have the option to add gratuity only on the last payment? When you're setting up your clients' payment options, select the gratuity for last payment option.

How can my client leave a tip after the event / after all payments are made?

In HoneyBook, clients are able to add gratuity only when submitting a payment already in the payment schedule.

If your client has already made all payments but now wants to tip, you can:

  • Edit the existing invoice and add a new payment (for example: $1), on which the client can add their tip

  • Send a new invoice with a payment (for example: $1), on which the client add their tip

What's the client experience with gratuity?

When your clients are submitting a payment and you've enabled gratuity for the file, they'll be able to add a tip to their payment. They can choose "No thanks," select a percentage of the payment, or enter a customized dollar amount.

Can I change the tip percentage options?

At the moment, the default gratuity percentages are preset and cannot be adjusted. Clients can leave a custom dollar amount by selecting the "Custom" tip option.
