Edit an already-sent recurring invoice

What to do if you've already shared a recurring invoice by need to make a change to it.

You can still make edits to a recurring invoice after you've sent it, regardless of whether the client has completed a payment, unless the invoice is overdue.

  1. Use the search bar or select Projects from the top navigation menu to find the project that holds the recurring invoice you want to edit

  2. Once you're in the project workspace, open the recurring invoice's File Summary by selecting it

  3. At the top of your screen, select Edit file

  4. Make your changes

    1. Select Preview to review all completed and upcoming invoices

  5. When you're done, select Publish Changes

  6. Send the email letting your client know a change was made to the recurring invoice

From here, your client will get the email notifying them of a change. They’ll see the adjustments next time they open the smart file, and will be prompted to accept the changes before they proceed.
