Include billable hour details in your invoice

Learn how to get details of your billable hours added onto your invoices.

Updated over a week ago

While you can create an invoice to include your billable hours, the details of those billable hours will not automatically be added into the invoice. If your client needs these details (like the dates and times you worked), you can include them as a separate page on the invoice.

  1. When you're creating an invoice for your billable hours, select Add page in the right-side menu of the smart file builder

  2. Select Start from blank

    1. If you've previously built out a template to hold your billable hour details, select the template instead

  3. Give the page a title in the right-side menu (like Billable hours details)

  4. Select Layouts > select whichever layout will serve you best here

    1. For example, if you need to include billable hour details for 4 sets of billable hours, use the two column text layout

  5. Begin entering the billable hours your client needs. An example of this could be the following:

(June 10th, 2024) - Created emblem

4 hours x $40/hr = $160

(June 12th, 2024) - Set up initial page layouts

3 hours x $40/hour = $120

The invoice page will show the total hours worked, hourly rate, and invoice total, so those are optional details to include in the details page.

This page will be included in the file you send, and can be edited to include additional details if your client needs them.
