The “SPF record not found” error means your domain doesn’t have a valid SPF record defined. Without this, email providers can’t confirm that HoneyBook is authorized to send on your behalf. This can cause your emails to land in spam or fail delivery.
To fix this error, you’ll need:
Access to your domain provider’s management console such as GoDaddy, Squarespace, or Namecheap
The correct SPF value for your email provider such as Google Workspace, Outlook, iCloud, or Zoho
📣 Note
Updating SPF is done entirely outside of HoneyBook. HoneyBook checks and alerts you about issues, but the record itself must be added through your domain provider.
Step 1: Log in to your domain provider
Go to your domain provider’s management console
If you’re unsure who your domain provider is, use a lookup tool → enter your domain (everything after the
@)Your registrar or reseller information will list the domain provider
Step 2: Locate your DNS TXT records
In your domain provider’s console, find where you manage DNS TXT records
Create a new TXT record for SPF
Step 3: Enter your SPF record values
Here’s what you’ll typically enter:
Type | TXT (don’t select SPF) |
Name or host | Depends on your provider:
|
Value or data | Use the correct value for your email provider:
|
TTL (Time to Live) | Use your provider’s default or set between 1800–3600 seconds |
📚 Tip
Your domain should only have one SPF record. If more exist, merge them into a single record.
Step 4: Save and verify your changes
Save your DNS changes
Wait up to 48 hours for changes to propagate
Run HoneyBook’s domain tester again to confirm the error is resolved
Optionally, use a third-party SPF validation tool to double-check
Additional steps for high-volume senders
If you send more than 5,000 emails per day, Google and Yahoo’s 2024 spam filter rules apply to you. In addition to SPF:
Make sure your DKIM record is defined
Add a DMARC record to protect against spoofing and improve deliverability
Use a DMARC checker to confirm your setup
