Set a default email template for sharing a smart file

Create a default email for when you share a smart file in a project

Updated over 2 weeks ago

You can save time when sharing files by setting a default email template. The template will automatically appear whenever you send a file to your client through a project, so you don't have to write a new message each time. You can make any edits to the message, or send it out right away.

Set a default email template

  1. From the navigation menu, select Templates > File templates

  2. Click into your file

  3. Click the three-dot icon > Edit email settings

  4. In the drop-down menu, select the default email template you’d like to appear when you send the file

  5. From here, you can customize your template settings:

    • Show your company logo: Toggle ON or OFF

    • Edit button text: Enter the text that you’d like to appear on the button that will link to your smart file

  6. Click Save

When you're getting ready to share the corresponding file, the email template will appear automatically, along with a button to access the file. From there, you can make any edits, then send.

📌 Note

If you set default email settings for a file template, but then add the smart file to an automation and choose a different email for that automation step—the email chosen when creating the automation step will trigger, overriding the template settings. However, the logo and button settings set at the template level will remain the same.
