Sending yourself a test smart file

How to send a smart file to yourself to preview the client experience

There’s no room for uncertainty when it comes to your clients’ experience. That’s why we make it easy to send a test smart file to yourself before debuting it to a client!


From desktop

To send a test smart file from a desktop device:

1. Start building your smart file in a project workspace or as a template.

2. Once you’ve built out your smart file, you can send yourself a test, by either:

  • Clicking the 3-dot icon > Send test

  • Clicking Share > Send test file from the Send drop-down (smart file in a project only)

3. You’ll see an auto-generated email populate in the email builder. You can adjust the text, or select another email template.

4. When you’re ready, click Send Test.

5. Now, head to your email inbox. You'll see your test smart file, which you can click to open and review. You’ll be able to click through each page to get the full feel, and even test out responding to questions, selecting services, and more—since it’s a test smart file, nothing will be saved or changed. You can send it off to your client when you’re ready!


From the mobile app

To send a test smart file via the mobile app:

1. Open the HoneyBook mobile app and start building your smart file in a project.

2. Once you’ve built out your smart file, click the 3-dot icon at the bottom of your screen > Send yourself a test file.

📣 NOTE

If you’re sending a test smart file from the mobile app, you won’t be able to edit the email that goes out with it. Tests are sent only to you (not your clients), but if you wish to edit the email content you can always send a test from a desktop device.

4. Now, head to your email inbox. You'll see your test smart file, which you can click to open and review. You’ll be able to click through each page to get the full feel, and even test out responding to questions, selecting services, and more. Since it’s a test file, nothing will be saved or changed. You can send it off to your client when you’re ready!
