What to check if your membership renewal is an unexpected amount

Updated today

We'll cover some common reasons below as to why your membership charge might be off from what you expected.

Sales tax

Depending on your billing address, HoneyBook might collect sales tax on your membership payments. We'll only charge sales tax where we're legally required to do so by the tax authorities of your state.

These taxes are only relevant to your HoneyBook membership fees—they aren't related to the services you provide to your clients or any payments they might make to you.

Taxes will apply to members with billing addresses in the following U.S. cities and states:

  • Arizona

  • Hawaii

  • Iowa

  • Maryland

  • Massachusetts

  • North Carolina

  • Ohio

  • Pennsylvania

  • Rhode Island

  • South Carolina

  • South Dakota

  • Tennessee

  • Texas

  • Utah

  • Washington

  • Washington D.C.

  • West Virginia

📣 Note

This list has been updated as of December 21, 2021 and is subject to change.

If you're tax exempt, you may apply for an exemption by reaching out to our Support team. Please chat in "Talk to a person" and provide a copy of the IRS determination letter so the team can confirm your exemption.

Where to check

If you live in a location where HoneyBook is required to charge taxes, you'll see the sales tax calculated and added to your membership total upon checkout and before purchase.

After you purchase your membership, charges appear on your HoneyBook membership invoice, which you can find in your invoice history under Settings > Company settings > Membership.

Expired promotion

If you applied a promotion when signing up that was valid for, for example, your first year's subscription, you should expect to see your plan renew at the regular rate after the first year.

Where to check

Charges appear on your HoneyBook membership invoice, which you can find in your invoice history under Settings > Company settings > Membership.
