About the HoneyBook connector

Connect your HoneyBook account to Claude or another AI assistant, ask questions about your business, and get work done in plain language — including what to ask and where the limits are

Everything about your business is already in HoneyBook. Every project, every invoice, every signed contract, every questionnaire a client ever filled in. The information isn't missing. It's just that finding one piece of it can take 5 clicks and 3 open tabs.

The HoneyBook connector lets you skip that and ask instead. For example: "Which of my fall weddings still has a balance owed?" One sentence, one answer, and you never open a project.

What the connector is

The connector is a secure link between your HoneyBook account and an AI assistant like Claude. Once it's set up, the assistant can look things up in your account and take actions there for you, always because you asked it to in a conversation.

It's built on an open standard, so it isn't tied to one AI tool. Claude works today, and any assistant that supports the same standard connects the same way.

Three things to know up front:

  1. You're in control: The assistant only touches your account when you ask. It isn't running in the background or working on your account while you're away.

  2. It uses your HoneyBook login: You sign in as yourself and approve the connection, just like connecting any other tool

  3. You can disconnect whenever you want: Access stops right away. See Set up the HoneyBook connector for the steps.

What you can ask

Money

  • Who still owes me money, and how much?

  • Which invoices are overdue?

  • How much did I bring in last month?

Contracts and files

  • Has this client signed everything?

  • What's the cancellation policy in their contract?

  • What did they say in their questionnaire?

The assistant can read the text of your smart files, contracts, and questionnaires, including the details buried in fine print that HoneyBook's own search can't reach — turnaround windows, deliverables, cancellation terms, travel clauses.

Your pipeline

  • What's booked for next month?

  • Which leads haven't heard from me in 2 weeks?

  • Show me everything for this client in one place.

Prepping for a call

  • Catch me up on this client before my call.

  • What have we agreed to so far, and what's still open?

About HoneyBook itself

The connector can also answer product questions, using the same Help Center you're reading right now.

📚 Tip

The connector is most useful when you've got real history in HoneyBook for it to draw on. If your account is brand new, there isn't much for it to look through yet.

How to get better answers

  • Use the names HoneyBook uses: "The Rivera wedding" beats "that outdoor one in June"

  • Say what you're actually trying to figure out: "Who hasn't paid?" gets you a list. "Who hasn't paid, and who should I chase first?" gets you a list you can do something with.

  • Ask one thing at a time: A single focused question works better than a sprawling one, especially on a busy account

  • Speak up when something's off: If an answer looks wrong, say so. "You missed the Chen project" usually fixes it faster than starting the whole thing over.

When it makes changes

The connector doesn't only look things up — it can make real changes in your account, like creating a project or updating client details. That means:

  • There's no preview and no undo. A change happens the moment it runs.

  • Anything your client can see is permanent. A file that's been sent can't be pulled back.

  • The assistant should check with you first. Before changing something that matters — anything live, or anything a client will see — it should tell you what it's about to do and wait for you to say go.

    • That pause is the whole point. Read what it's proposing before you approve it, the same way you'd read an email before you hit send.

📚 Tip

If you only want to look something up and change nothing, just say so: "Only tell me, don't change anything."

What it isn't, and what it can't do

  • It isn't HoneyBook AI: HoneyBook AI lives inside HoneyBook with chat, meeting notes, lead enrichment, business trends. The connector does the opposite — it brings your HoneyBook account out to the AI assistant you already use.

  • It isn't an autopilot. Nothing happens unless you ask for it in a conversation. No background work, no scheduled tasks, nothing while you're away.

  • It isn't a replacement for HoneyBook: Anything visual — designing a smart file, laying out a brochure, checking what your client's payment page looks like — still belongs in HoneyBook

  • It can't take back something a client has already seen: Once a file's been sent and your client has opened it, there's no unsend — same as if you'd sent it yourself

  • It can't do everything HoneyBook can do yet: Some corners of your account aren't reachable through the connector yet. That's usually why it tells you it can't do something, and the list is growing.
