All about publishing and sharing lead forms; plus how to publish changes to, or deactivate, a live form

Updated over a week ago

Once you’ve built out your lead form, publish the form to make it live, and get started sharing it. Lead forms can be shared with anyone using public links, or directly embedded on your website, and you can distribute them through any platforms you prefer.

Publish a new lead form

When you're completed creating your new lead form, you'll see the option to Publish. This will mean your lead form is live. From here, copy and share its unique link. Here's some places you might want to share it:

  • Your website: add as the linked URL for a button, or in the top navigation bar

  • Marketing campaigns

  • Linktree

  • Social media

  • Text

You can also retrieve the unique URL for this lead form at any time by returning to the lead form and selecting Share. This will only appear after the lead form was published.

📚 Tip

You can edit the lead form's URL by adjusting it's form link in the lead form's settings.

When the form is submitted, you’ll receive an email and a desktop notification, a push notification (if you have the app downloaded), and HoneyBook will automatically create a project for that lead in the Inquiry stage. The project will include the completed form and the lead added as a project participant (using the name and email they entered), so that you can get started communicating and sending files.

Publish changes on a live lead form

Publishing changes to a live lead form will not affect any versions of the form that have already been submitted. If you’ve published a lead form but have since made edits to it, follow the step below to make sure the changes are published in the live version.

When you're done editing the lead form, select Publish Changes. Your lead form will then be live. From here, copy and share its unique link.

Deactivate a lead form

Once a lead form isn't useful to you anymore, deactivate it. There's three places you can do this, and you can reactivate a lead form from these locations as well:

  • Within the lead form

  • From the lead form templates page

  • After you select Share on a live lead form

Deactivate from within the lead form

Next to the lead form's name, turn the live toggle off.

Deactivate from the Share button

  1. When editing a lead form, select Share

  2. Toggle off Publish form

Deactivate from the lead form template page

  1. From the top navigation menu, select Clients > Lead Forms

  2. Next to the lead form's name, turn the live toggle off
