Configure a lead form's settings in HoneyBook

Manage link preview, automation, and submission settings for your HoneyBook lead forms — including assigning a lead source to new projects

Once you've built a lead form, its settings control what happens before, during, and after a lead submits it — from the link preview they see, to the automations that fire on submission, to how new projects get tagged and routed. Here's how to configure each one.

To get to a lead form's settings, select the gear icon. When you're done making changes, select Save & Exit.

Form link preview settings

A lead form's form link preview settings control what leads will see when you send them the form link. Here's how to update these settings:

  • Thumbnail: Hover over the image, then select Pencil icon Edit or replace image (pencil icon) to edit or replace the image, or Trash icon Remove image (trash icon) to delete the image

  • Form title: Enter a new lead form title

  • Form link: Select the end of the URL, then edit it to better match your brand

📣 Note

HoneyBook keeps a form's last 10 URLs reserved, even after you change them — so any old links you've already shared keep working. This means a previous URL can't be reused on a different lead form, even once it no longer appears in this form's settings. If you try, you'll get an "already in use" error.

Automation settings

A lead form's automation settings control what happens when a lead submits the form. Here's what each of these settings do:

  • Send a confirmation email upon submission: When this is toggled ON, a confirmation email will get sent to the lead when they submit the form

    • You can click Preview to preview the email, but note that this email cannot be edited

      • If you'd like to customize the confirmation email, consider connecting the lead form to an automation instead

  • Automations

    • Select Go to automations to build an automation that's triggered based on lead form submission

    • If you connect the form to an automation that includes a "welcome email," make sure the confirmation email option (above) is toggled OFF to ensure your leads don't receive duplicate outreach

Submission settings

Your submission settings control what happens after a lead submits the form.

  • Incoming leads recipients: This lets you automatically add/notify team members about incoming inquiries through the form

    • Select Add/edit team members > select team member(s) and choose their recipient status(es)

  • Incoming leads project creation: This lets you choose to add the lead form submission details to an existing project, if one already exists for the lead; or create a new project each time the form is submitted

    • Toggle Group all submissions from the same client under the same project ON or OFF

  • Send leads to a URL of your choice: This lets you control where clients will be redirected to upon form submission

    • Toggle Send people to this URL after the confirmation page ON > enter a redirect URL

  • Automatically apply tags: Choose if you'd like to automatically add project or contact tags to the leads that come in through the form

  • Project type assignment: Choose if you'd like to automatically apply a project type to all projects created upon the form's submission

  • Lead source: Choose a lead source to automatically assign to every project created from this form, instead of "Unknown"

    • You can also access this from your navigation menu, by selecting Lead capture > Lead forms. Select Vertical ellipsis icon More options (vertical ellipsis icon) on the lead form > Settings. Then on the pop-up under “Apply automatically when a lead form is submitted,” choose your Lead source.

    • Options are pulled from your existing lead source list — if the one you want isn't listed, add it there first

    • Leaving this field unset keeps the current behavior (projects tagged "Unknown")

Service block settings

This section is visible only if you've added a services block to the lead form.

  • Toggle Generate a standalone invoice ON or OFF

    • This lets you control whether or not a draft invoice should be created in the project upon form submission, containing the lead's service selections

    • If toggled ON, select the template that will be used for the draft invoice
