How bank holidays can delay payment processing

Understanding observed bank holidays and how they affect payment processing times

Updated over 6 months ago

If your client pays near or on a US bank holiday, the payment might take a little longer to reach your account. Any credit card or ACH payment that processes over a bank holiday can be delayed up to one business day, as most banks are closed on these dates.

Note

Instant deposits are not affected by bank holidays and typically appear in the associated bank account within 24 hours (and often, in as little as 30 minutes), regardless of the date.

You can review the estimated deposit date of any payment in the Payments tab of your Bookkeeping tool or in the client progress view of the sent invoice. Learn more about payment processing times when they aren’t affected by bank holidays.
