Understanding the different entry points to start building a smart file in HoneyBook.

Start building a smart file from one of these two places:

If you begin from the My Templates page, you'll create a template that can be used repeatedly. Templates can be brought into a project workspace and edited for that specific project's needs. If you begin from the project workspace, you'll only create a smart file for that one project.


Start building from a template

Building from a template saves you time since you don't need to start from scratch. Whether these are templates you've previously created or templates you've downloaded from the template gallery, you can update them to fit your company's branding and change the blocks to customize your file.

To get to the My Templates page, select Templates > select File templates from the top navigation menu.


Start building from the project workspace

Building from the project workspace allows you to create a unique smart file for just one project. Smart files can hold many different blocks for anything you might want to let your client know, anything you need your client to supply, and any choices your client needs to make to set you up for success.

Here's how to begin building a smart file from the project workspace:

  1. Use the search bar or select Projects from the top navigation menu to locate the project you'll begin building a smart file from

  2. Once you're in a project, select Create File

    1. Select what file you want to create

    2. Select Custom Smart File to start from scratch

From here, begin building your smart file using the different blocks available to you (like invoices, contracts, or scheduling).
