Create and share pay links in HoneyBook

Instantly request and receive payments with pay links. No full project setup—share through email, text, or messaging apps.

Pay links are a streamlined feature designed to help HoneyBook members request and receive payments quickly without the need to set up a full project. This feature is ideal for simple transactions, one-off services, or when a client prefers a straightforward payment process. A pay link can be generated on both the web and in the mobile app and shared via email, text message, WhatsApp, or other messaging platforms.

Learn more about what the different pay link statuses mean:

Status

Meaning

Active

The pay link is valid and awaiting client payment

Paid

The client has completed the payment

Expired

The 24-hour validity period has passed without payment

Refunded / Partially refunded

The transaction was refunded or partially refunded. Funds will be returned in 7–14 business days, the same as standard invoice refunds.


Create and share a pay link on the web

  1. Select + New > Pay link. Alternatively, you can:

    1. Go to the client workspace of the specific client you want to request payment from

    2. Under “Pay links,” select Create pay link

    3. Select Next

  2. Select the client you want to request payment from

    1. If you’re in the client workspace, the client will be pre-selected

    2. If you turn on Connect this pay link to your client’s existing project, you can select a project from a dropdown

  3. Enter the amount you want to request from the client

  4. Enter a name for the pay link to help you identify it later. This name will also be visible to the client.

  5. Select Create pay link

  6. To share the pay link:

    1. Select Send via email to send the pay link directly to the client's email

    2. Select Copy link to manually share the pay link by text, WhatsApp, or other messaging platforms

  7. If you need to later find the pay link you created, you can go back to the client workspace of the specific client you created it for, then locate it under “Pay links.”

Delete a pay link

📣 Note

Deleting a pay link is permanent and can’t be undone.

  1. Go to the client workspace of the specific client you want to remove the pay link from

  2. Under “Pay links,” select the three-dot icon > Delete > Yes, delete


Create and share a pay link in the mobile app

  1. From the navigation menu, select Create > Pay link. Alternatively, you can:

    1. Go to the client workspace of the specific client you want to request payment from

    2. By “Pay Links,” select the plus icon

  2. Select the client you want to request payment from

    1. If you’re in the client workspace, the client will be pre-selected

    2. If you turn on Connect this pay link to your client’s existing project, you can select a project > Select

  3. Enter the amount you want to request from the client

  4. Enter a name for the pay link to help you identify it later. This name will also be visible to the client.

  5. Select Create pay link

  6. To share the pay link:

    1. Select Send via email to send the pay link directly to the client's email

    2. Select Share pay link to manually share the pay link by text, WhatsApp, or other messaging platforms

  7. If you need to later find the pay link you created, you can go back to the client workspace of the specific client you created it for, then locate it under “Pay Links.”

Delete a pay link

  1. Go to the client workspace of the specific client you want to remove the pay link from

  2. Under “Pay Links,” select the three-dot icon > Delete > Delete link
