When you connect your Gmail account, HoneyBook AI identifies potential leads in your inbox — including inquiries from marketplaces like The Knot, WeddingWire, Zola, and PartySlate — and automatically creates a contact and, for qualifying inquiries, a project. No separate setup is needed for marketplace leads — they're detected by sender domain through your existing Gmail connection.

How Gmail lead finder works
When you first turn it on
HoneyBook AI looks through your past 3 months of communication history and pulls in any identified leads.
Ongoing monitoring
Once turned on, HoneyBook AI continuously monitors for new relationship activity. It only flags net new prospects — inquiries from contacts who already have a booked project won't be flagged again as a new lead. When it identifies a new lead, you'll receive:
An email
A notification in your notifications center
How leads are imported
The lead won't receive any communication, and won't be notified they've been identified as a lead
Every identified lead is added to your Contacts page with their email address, name, and last interaction date
The contact source is set as Gmail, so you can tell it came from the Gmail lead finder
A conversation summary generated by HoneyBook AI is added to the contact notes and the original Gmail thread (not visible to the lead)
For qualifying inquiries, a project is also created automatically — added to your pipeline's Inquiry stage, no manual step required
HoneyBook AI pulls in what it can find: name, project type, date, and location
If a field like event date or budget is missing, that doesn't block the project from being created — the project is created with whatever details the inquiry makes clear
Auto-created projects don't trigger automations
Marketplace leads
Inquiries from The Knot, WeddingWire, Zola, and PartySlate are detected the same way — by matching the sender's domain within your Gmail connection. There's no separate marketplace integration to set up.
Marketplace inquiries that qualify create a full project the same way a direct Gmail inquiry does leads aren't currently labeled by their marketplace source (there's no "from The Knot" tag).
📣 Note
How client email addresses are handled:
If the inquiry comes through a relay address (common with The Knot), the project is still created, but with a warning icon so you know the client's real email address may need a closer look
If the sender address is unresolvable or too generic to attribute to a real contact, no project or contact is created at all
Daily limits
HoneyBook AI creates up to 50 projects per member, per day, through Gmail lead finder. Any qualifying inquiries beyond that cap aren't created — they're silently dropped and logged, without a project or notification.
Dismiss or remove an auto-created lead
If a project or contact was created by mistake, you can dismiss it — but a few limits apply:
Only the person whose Gmail account created the lead can dismiss it
You can only dismiss leads within your own pipeline
Once dismissed, HoneyBook remembers that sender for 60 days — Gmail lead finder won't create a new lead from that same sender again until that window passes
