Changes to membership pricing and plans

On February 4, 2025, our prices will increase. That said, our current member’s prices will increase on the date of their first billing cycle after Feb 4, 2025 and will include a 20% discount for the first year. What this means depends on your payment and plan type:

Your monthly price will remain the same through the end of your plan. When it's time to renew your annual plan after Feb 4, 2025 your new price will include the 20% discount for existing members.

New members who join on or after Feb 4, 2025 with a monthly or annual payment

If you join on or after Feb 4, 2025, your price will reflect our updated pricing.

How were the new prices determined?

The new prices were carefully set based on thorough market research and a detailed evaluation of the value our product provides. We considered several factors, including industry standards, the cost of maintaining and enhancing our services, the value we currently deliver, and the new enhancements planned for the future.

What justifies this price increase? What has HoneyBook been building?

At HoneyBook, we’ve spent over a decade investing in tools and innovations to support independent businesses. The price adjustments reflect the increasing costs of the investments we've made in the platform during that time and ensures we can continue delivering innovations and support the needs of small businesses. Here are some examples of what we've built over the years:

2013–2017

HoneyBook launched to address the needs of small businesses juggling contracts, invoices, and project management. We introduced a project pipeline, professional tools, and an iOS app, empowering independent businesses to work anytime, anywhere.

2018–2020

We added integrated scheduling, instant deposits, recurring payments, and automation to streamline workflows and speed up payments. During the pandemic, we supported businesses with rescheduling tools, Zoom integrations, and tailored resources to adapt to unexpected challenges.

2021–2022

We expanded our offerings with capital loans, HoneyBook Pros, and enriched education for independent businesses. Smart Files elevated client interactions with beautifully branded, streamlined documents.

2023–2024

We embraced AI to help businesses save time and focus on their craft. New tools like enhanced lead forms, SMS reminders, smarter automations, and improved financial tools have made it easier for small businesses to scale and thrive.

Your membership plan and account information

I'm currently on a legacy plan. What will happen to my membership?

If you are currently on a legacy plan such as Unlimited monthly or Unlimited annual, your plan will automatically migrate on February 4, 2025 to the new plan that most closely matches your current one. We’ve carefully mapped legacy plans to their closest updated plan to ensure you’ll have access to comparable features and tools that support your business needs.

To confirm if you’re on a legacy plan, you can review your Membership tab. The table below outlines which plan you will be migrated to. You will be automatically migrated on February 4, 2025 with no action needed from you.

I have a legacy $9 Starter plan. Why is my plan changing?

The $9 Starter plan (also briefly offered for $5) is a legacy plan HoneyBook offered for a short time during the pandemic, beginning in early 2021. We offered the plan for a limited time during the pandemic to broaden access to HoneyBook when small businesses were facing immense uncertainty during an unprecedented time.

Despite the name ‘Starter’, this plan is not the same as today’s Starter plan ($19/mo), and we’ve updated each current plan and its price based on the value each plan provides. We know for members on these plans that the price changes are a bigger percentage increase, as making these changes has also meant retiring plans where the price doesn’t reflect the value and breadth of the features included.

I have a legacy $9 Starter plan. Why is my rate increasing so significantly and what can I do about it?

The $9 Starter plan was intended to be a great deal for our members and we understand that those on it will experience a significant price increase with the upcoming changes. We are glad to have been able to offer this option to our members for so long but are now aligning our pricing to the value of the features in each plan.

As new plan pricing goes into effect on your first billing date after February 4, 2025, we recommend taking the time to assess what features on HoneyBook you need and what plan best meets your needs going forward. While you currently have access to most features on our Essentials plan, you may find the new Starter plan better suits your needs.

Additional information about the legacy $9 Starter plan

Why did you create the legacy $9 Starter plan in the first place?

We offered the plan for a limited time during the pandemic to broaden access to HoneyBook when small businesses were facing immense uncertainty during an unprecedented time.

What is included in the legacy $9 Starter plan?

The legacy $9 Starter plan includes almost all features in today’s Essentials plan, which costs $39/month with the following exceptions:

  • No team members

  • $10k transaction limit: once you reach $10k in transactions through the platform, you must move to a new plan — the default being the Essentials monthly plan ($39/mo), or you can select another plan in your membership settings.

Will I lose the ability to add more team members and multiple companies, or lose any of my lead forms and contact forms?

To reduce disruption to your business, you will retain the same number of the following features that you are currently using even if they exceed your new plan's limits (or, unlimited for members on Premium plans):

  • Team members

  • Multiple companies

  • Live lead forms

  • Live contact forms

For example: If you’re currently on the Unlimited monthly legacy plan, you will be migrated to the Essentials monthly plan on February 4, 2025. While the Essentials monthly plan allows for 10 live lead forms, you will still be able to create as many live lead forms as you had prior to February 4, 2025. If you previously had 12 live lead forms, you will still be able to create up to 12 live lead forms.

Where can I find my billing date? Can I change it?

You can view your billing date in the Membership section of your account settings. At this time, we’re unable to adjust individual billing dates, but our Support team is here to answer any questions you may have about your billing schedule.

How will the price increase affect my billing cycle?

If you’re already subscribed to a plan, the updated pricing will take effect at the start of your next billing cycle on or after February 4, 2025, and no action is required from you.

As an existing member, your new price will also include a 20% discount on the subscription price for the next year. We’re giving this discount to show our gratitude for your loyalty and support. To see your discounted price, review the pricing table in the article HoneyBook membership pricing and plan changes.

If you’d like to lock in our current pricing for the next year, you can do so by upgrading to an annual membership before February 4, 2025 by either:

  • Switching from a monthly to a yearly subscription

  • Upgrading to a higher yearly plan

After updating to an annual membership, you’ll receive the 20% discount at your next annual billing date after February 4, 2025.

Will you honor any existing promotions or discounts I have after the price change?

Absolutely. We’ll continue to honor any promotion or discounts through the duration of the promotional period. After that, the new standard pricing will apply, and you will receive the 20% discount on our new prices for one year.

I’m in the middle of my annual plan—will I be charged the new rate halfway through?

No, your existing annual plan rate is locked in for the remainder of your current term. The new pricing will take effect at your next renewal on or after February 4, 2025. At that time, you will automatically get 20% off the new subscription rate.

If I downgrade to a lower plan, will I still have access to my account history and data?

Absolutely, if you choose to downgrade, you will still have access to your data and account history.

Is there a penalty for cancelling my subscription after the price change?

No, there’s no penalty for cancelling your subscription at any time. We recommend reviewing your billing cycle dates to ensure you understand when the new rate will take effect. Once you’ve canceled, please note that the 20% discount for existing members will no longer apply if you choose to rejoin in the future.

In order to cancel your subscription, navigate to Settings > Company > Membership, and click the cancellation button.

I’m on a trial. Will I have to pay a new price after my trial ends?

If your trial period ends and you subscribe before February 4, 2025, you’ll have the advantage of enjoying our current pricing until our prices and plans change. Choosing an annual plan will lock in the current pricing for a year. On February 4, 2025, our pricing will update.

If you subscribe after February 4, 2025, your membership will begin at the new price.
