Add a discount to an invoice in HoneyBook

Learn how to add a dollar or percentage discount to an invoice in HoneyBook, how discounts affect totals and taxes, and what limitations to expect

Updated today

You can add a discount to an invoice in HoneyBook to reduce the total amount a client pays. Discounts can be applied as either a flat dollar amount or percentage, and are automatically calculated based on the invoice subtotal.

When a discount is added, it’s taken off the invoice subtotal (the total of all packages and items before taxes) and reflected in the final invoice total. At this time, discounts apply to the invoice as a whole and can’t be applied to individual packages or line items.

📣 Note
If your invoice includes taxable services, HoneyBook applies the discount before calculating taxes. The discount is proportionally applied to taxable services first, and tax is then calculated only on the discounted taxable amount.

Apply a discount to your invoice

  1. Go to the page that holds your invoice block, then select the block

  2. Above the invoice total, select + Add discount

  3. Set your discount. The changes will automatically save.
