How to add a digital product to a lead form, so leads can get access to the link once they pay

Updated over a week ago

Have digital products or services that you offer? These might look like:

  • Templates

  • Workbooks/worksheets

  • Workshops/online courses

  • Youtube series

  • Ebooks

You can add these products to your lead forms as a special type of service item: digital products. When you toggle the digital products option ON and add the URL, clients can get access as soon as they pay.

📣 Note

At the moment, digital products are available only in lead forms. We’re working to bring this functionality to smart files soon!

Add a digital product to a lead form

Before you get started:

Need a refresher on how to create and customize lead forms? Check out this article.

If you've already created a lead form and need to set an existing service item as a digital product, jump to step 5 below!

To add a digital product to a lead form:

1. From any page, navigate to Tools > Lead Forms.

2. Find and open an existing lead form, or click Create New to start from scratch.

3. From the lead form, either locate your existing digital product, or add a new services block by clicking the large plus (+) sign > Services.

  • If you’re adding a new services block, either select a template to reuse its existing services block, or click + Start from blank.

4. If needed, type to add the name, description, and price of your digital product.

5. Click the outline of the service item to open the service item settings sidebar.

6. Toggle Add a digital product link ON, then enter the URL for the digital product.

📣 Note

At this time, digital products must be added with a URL. We recommend uploading your file to Dropbox, Google Drive, or another hosting service; and then linking directly to the hosted file URL.

The URL must begin with http://… or https://….

7. Continue building out your lead form as needed, then publish it to get started distributing!

Client experience with digital products

Once a lead submits your form, they’ll be brought to a confirmation page. From this page, they’ll be able to open and download, and copy the link to, any digital products that they paid for.

The lead will also receive an email confirmation where they can access the digital product link(s).

Digital products FAQ

Can I offer free digital products in my lead forms?

Free digital products are not currently supported in lead forms. However, the price of a digital product can be set to $0. Leads will still need to enter payment information and click to pay, but they will not be charged for the $0 item.

📣 Note

Our team is working to bring free digital products to lead forms soon.

I’m having trouble setting the quantity and unit for digital products—why?

To make the form creation process as simple as possible, the quantity and unit for digital product service items cannot be adjusted. Digital assets are standalone items—so these fields don’t need to be adjusted!

Can I upload PDFs or other file types as my digital products?

At this time, digital products must be added with a URL. Uploading PDFs or other file types to your lead forms is not currently supported. We recommend uploading your file to Dropbox, Google Drive, or another hosting service; and then linking directly to the hosted file URL.

Can I set the service selection setting to view only for digital products?

Service selection is required for services blocks with digital products—you cannot set the service selection setting to view only.

Why is an invoice automatically added when I add a digital product?

When you add a digital product to a lead form, an invoice is automatically, too. This is in place to ensure a smooth experience for leads, so they can purchase the product(s) instantly!
