How SMS text reminders work with HoneyBook

Send SMS reminders to your clients to streamline communication, reduce friction, and make sure fewer payments and sessions are missed.

There are 3 types of SMS reminders:

  • Two-factor authentication (2FA): Available on all plans. Will send verifications codes to your clients for secure access via SMS.

  • Meeting reminders: Available only on Essentials and Premium plans. Will send meeting reminders to clients via SMS.

  • Payment reminders: Available only on Essentials and Premium plans. Will send payment reminders to clients via SMS.

📣 Note

SMS reminders are sent only to your clients that've opted in to receive SMS. They aren't sent to you (the business). Learn more about client opt-in.


Adjust SMS reminder settings

By default, SMS reminders are turned on for your account. The client opt-in is automatically added to your contact and lead forms and session schedulers that contain a linked phone number field. Learn more about client opt-in.

  1. From the navigation menu, select Settings > Company settings

  2. Scroll down to the "SMS messaging" section

  3. Turn Enable SMS messaging on or off

    1. If turned on, you can then adjust the settings for each SMS reminder type

Session reminders

📣 Note

SMS session reminders are available to members on only the Essentials and Premium plans.

Once you've made sure that SMS session reminders are turned on for your company, you can adjust what session types they send for, and when:

  1. From the navigation menu, select Tools > Scheduler

  2. Find a session you’d like to adjust SMS session reminders for, then select Edit

  3. Select the Confirmation dropdown, then under the "REMINDERS" section, adjust the reminder types you'd like to send

  4. Select SAVE & PUBLISH SESSION

Payment reminders

📣 Note

SMS payment reminders are available to members on Essentials and Premium plans only.

Once you've made sure that SMS payment reminders are turned on for your company, you can adjust what types of payments they send for.

  1. From the navigation menu, select Settings > Company settings

  2. Select Preferences

  3. Go down to the "Payment reminders" section

  4. Turn the Recurring/Autopay, Payment due date, or Overdue +2 reminders on or off to adjust the settings for both SMS and email reminders

    • These are the only types of SMS payment reminders that are currently available

    • Turning on one of these 3 payment reminder types will turn on both SMS and email reminders, and turning off one of these 3 payment reminder types will turn off both SMS and email reminders


About client opt-in

Clients must opt in to receive SMS reminders before any are sent to them. The client opt-in has been automatically added to your contact and lead forms and session schedulers that contain linked phone number fields. It'll stay live unless you turn SMS reminders off for your company.

A client will receive SMS reminders if one or more of the following criteria are met:

  • Submitted your contact or lead form, entered their phone number in a linked phone number field when filling it out, and opted in to receive SMS reminders at that time

  • Scheduled a session with you, provided their phone number, and opted in to receive SMS reminders at that time
