How to activate an automation via lead form submission

Updated over a week ago

The magic of lead forms doesn’t stop once they’re submitted–you can also connect lead forms to automations, to automate next steps in the project.

We’ll cover how to connect lead forms and automations below. This can be done in one of two places.

From the Automations Dashboard

To connect lead forms to automations from the Automations Dashboard:

1. Head to your Automations Dashboard.

2. Find the automation you’d like to assign in the list.

3. In the Activate via Lead Form drop-down, select the lead form that you’d like to connect to the automation.

📣 NOTE

You can connect one automation to multiple lead forms (perfect if you have a catch-all automation that fits all lead form scenarios), but each lead form can have only one automation connected to it.

Now, any time a lead submits that lead form, the selected automation will be automatically activated in the corresponding project, and the next steps will start firing at the appropriate triggers.

From a form's configure settings

To connect a lead form to an automation from a form’s configure settings:

1. From your lead form, click the gear icon to open the configure settings.

2. Locate the Automation Settings section.

3. If you’d like an email confirmation to automatically go out to the lead upon form submission, toggle Send a confirmation email upon form submission ON.

📚 Tip

To ensure a smooth clientflow, toggle this option OFF if you connect an automation that already includes a confirmation/welcome email.

4. To connect an automation to the lead form, toggle Trigger an automation upon form submission ON.

5. Select the existing automation template to be used.

📣 NOTE

Each lead form can have only one automation connected to it. However, you can connect one automation to multiple lead forms (perfect if you have a catch-all automation that fits all lead form scenarios).

6. Click Save & Exit.

7. If your form is not yet published, continue building it out, then publish it. If it’s already live, be sure to publish the changes so that future leads’ projects will have the automation activated upon form submission.

Now, any time a lead submits the lead form, the selected automation will be automatically activated in the corresponding project, and the next steps will start firing at the appropriate triggers.
