Start automating your booking process in HoneyBook

Automatically send invoices and contracts to your clients so you spend less time doing admin work.

Updated over a week ago

With automations, you can automatically send contracts and invoices to clients at your preferred trigger. This creates a completely hands-off booking experience, allowing you to focus on what you love while still getting booked.

📚 Tip

This article covers Automations 2.0, HoneyBook's new automations builder with conditional logic, 3rd party app integrations, and more. Automations 2.0 is available for members in our Essential and Premium tiers.

How to automate a booking process:

  1. Create a new automation and select a trigger. A trigger is the event and conditions that will cause the automation to start running in projects (ex: “Contact form submitted”). Each automation starts with one trigger.

  2. At the appropriate point in your automation, use plus (+) to select Action > Send file via email. If you’re looking to set up automatic booking, this may be a contract or invoice.

    • In the right-hand side bar, you’ll also need to select your File template and the email template (found under Send via email).

    • You can always View & edit the file template and email template (found under Send via email) whenever you like.

    • You can also toggle Require approval ON or OFF. This means the action will only take place once you have approved it.

  3. Add more steps by clicking plus (+)

    • Or, click Save if you’re finished building out the automation but aren’t ready to turn it on yet

    • Click Activate if you’re ready to turn your automation on

When the trigger hits and your smart file sends, your clients will be able to complete any necessary steps, then sign and/or pay, without any back-and-forth.
