How to create a list of your favorite fellow vendors, then recommend them to your clients

Updated over a week ago

If you have other vendors or creatives in your network that you trust and want to recommend to your clients, look no further!

In this article, we'll review:

Saving preferred vendors

1.  From your HoneyBook home page, click the Contacts tab.

2.  Use the search bar to find the creative you'd like to save as a preferred vendor.

3.  Click the star icon that appears when you hover over the vendor's information to denote that they're a preferred vendor

Now, you can find all your preferred vendors by clicking the Preferred Vendor filter in your Contacts section, or under My Creatives in your Creatives section.

PLEASE NOTE: Only contacts that have been added to HoneyBook as vendors/creatives — whether by you, by them, or by someone else — are able to be starred. Client accounts cannot be added as preferred vendors.

Recommending a vendor to a client

To recommend vendors to a client via the Activity Feed:

1.  Find the Project with the contact to whom you'd like to refer some vendors. In the Activity Feed of the Project, click the Share Vendor Recommendations icon.

2.  Check the boxes next to the vendors you'd like to recommend. Any vendor you've marked as preferred will be denoted with a star icon in their avatar!

3.  Click Next: Preview.

4.  Review your selections. You can also choose whether you'd like your fellow vendors to be notified of the fact that you recommended them! Simply toggle that option on or off using the radio button at the bottom of the page.

PLEASE NOTE: If you choose to alert your fellow vendors that you've recommended them, they will receive an email notification that lets them know, along with your name, business name, and a preview of what the client receiving the recommendation will see.

5.  If everything looks good, click Attach.

6.  This will attach your recommendations and return you to the email composer. Make any final edits that you need, and click Send!

Now, your client will receive your email with the recommended vendors attached! Clicking the attachment will open the list of vendors, and your client can click Inquire to send a message to any vendor they're interested in learning more about.

To recommend vendors to a client when sending a file:

You can also choose to recommend vendors in the context of sending an Invoice or a Proposal to a client! Recommending a vendor this way differs slightly in that your client will only see the recommendations after they have made a payment on the file.

PLEASE NOTE: Recommending vendors when sending a file is only available when sending Invoices and Proposals.

1.  Create your Invoice or Proposal as usual, then proceed to the Review Email screen.

2.  Toggle Recommend Vendors ON (blue).

3.  Click the pencil icon to select the vendors you'd like to recommend.

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not select specific vendors to send, your client will receive all of your preferred vendors as recommendations.

4.  Check the boxes next to the vendors you're recommending. Any vendor you've marked as preferred will be denoted with a star icon in their avatar!

5.  Click Next: Preview.
