Internal tasks in HoneyBook are your to-do list, visible only to you and your team—making them a great way to keep your work organized. The Task management page also includes filters that apply across all of your tasks, not just general ones — by status, and by assignee — so you can control exactly what you see, whether a task is tied to a project or not.
📣 Note
Tasks can also be tied to a specific project
On the Task management page, Basic members only see tasks created by or assigned to them. Moderators and admins see the whole team's tasks, and can narrow that list with the assignee filter below.
Add a general task
General tasks are added directly to your main task list, with no project associated. These tasks are private to you. Once you tie that task to a project, though, it'll no longer be private.
From the navigation menu, select Tools > Tasks
Select Add task
A new task will appear at the top of the table
Label the task, give it a due date, and assign the task to you or a team member by selecting the profile photo
The task details will automatically save as you add or change them
If you connect the task to a project, it won't be private anymore
From here, the task can be found in Tasks
If the tasks you were expecting to see disappear, you need to adjust your task list's status filter
Learn more about adding a task to a project
📣 Note
At this time, tasks assigned to team members from the Task management page won't notify (either by email or notifications center) the team member of the task being assigned.
Adjust the task list's status filter
Review the list of things that still need to be done, the ones that are due today, the ones that have been finished, and more by changing the filters on the project task list. When you select a new status filter, only those tasks will appear in the task list.
From the navigation menu, select Tools > Tasks
Above the task list, select
Filter (funnel icon)This usually will default to Open tasks
Change the filter for the task list
You'll see how many tasks have each status when viewing the filter options
Task status filter options
Filter option | Description |
Open tasks | Shows all incomplete tasks regardless of due date |
Tasks due today | Shows tasks due today |
Tasks due this week | Shows tasks due this week |
Overdue tasks | Shows tasks that are past due |
Tasks to approve | Shows automation actions that need approval |
Completed tasks | Shows completed tasks |
Filter by assignee
Use the assignee filter to see what's on a specific team member's plate — or narrow the list down to just your own tasks.
From the navigation menu, select Tools > Tasks
Above the task list by “Filter by,” select Assignee
Select one or more team members from the dropdown
Check individual team members, or check Select all to view everyone's tasks at once
Your own name is pinned to the top of the list and marked with “(Me)”
Each person you individually select appears as a removable chip above the task list — select the X icon on a chip to remove them from the filter
How the assignee filter behaves
Defaults to your own tasks: When you first open the Task management page, you'll see tasks assigned to you — select more team members to broaden the view
Remembers your last selection: Your filter choice is saved per user and restored the next time you visit, on any device
Visibility depends on your role: Basic members can only filter within their own tasks (created by or assigned to them). Moderators and admins can select from the whole team and see everyone's tasks.
Delete a general task
If a task is no longer important or necessary, you can remove it to ensure that your list of tasks remains accurate and up-to-date. Keep in mind that once a task is deleted, it cannot be restored, so double-check before deleting any tasks.
For tasks you've completed, mark it as complete by selecting the empty circles next to them.
From the navigation menu, select Tools > Tasks
Find the task you want to delete, then select
Delete task (trash icon)
📣 Note
Not able to delete an item on your Task management page? That may be because it's an approval task tied to an automation, which can only be skipped, not deleted. If you require an approval on a step in an automation, it'll create a task in your Task management page.
