Learn how to connect your checking account to HoneyBook so you can get paid quickly and securely when clients submit payments. This article walks you through:
Adding your bank details
Selecting the correct business type (individual, sole proprietor, or LLC partnership or corporation)
Completing identity and business verification
Understanding what information is required to avoid payment delays
It also explains important limitations—such as why only checking accounts are supported—and what to expect during the 2-step verification process. Follow these steps to ensure client payments are processed smoothly and deposited directly into your bank account.
📣 Note
You can only add checking accounts on the Bank details page. Savings accounts and other account types aren’t supported.
Connect your bank account
From the navigation menu, select Settings > Company settings
Select Bank details
Determine your business type. Be careful to select the correct type when connecting your bank account. If there's a mistake, payments to your account won’t process.
Individual: You own and run a business, but don't have an employer identification number (EIN)
You use your Social Security number (SSN) when filing your taxes
Sole proprietor: You own and run a business and were issued an EIN
If you've filled out an SS-4 Form to register your business with the IRS, you have a government-issued EIN
If your organization is a registered nonprofit, select this type when you connect your bank account to HoneyBook
LLC-Partnership-Corp.: You pay taxes as an Limited Liability Company (LLC) ,and file as a partnership or corporation

Locate your business type, then follow the steps below to complete the connection

From Bank details, select Individual as your business type
Enter the required business information:
Business name: Name under which you operate your business
Merchant category code (MCC): A 4-digit code that lets you accept credit cards. HoneyBook doesn't provide this code to you.
Website URL or product description: Provide an active URL to your business or social media profile. If you don't have a URL, provide a detailed description about your business.
Statement descriptor: This shows up on your customers' bank or credit card statements. To update, change your company name in your Company settings.
Enter the required bank information:
Account number (checking accounts only)
Routing number
Bank name: For example, Chase or American Express (Amex). Don't enter the name of your bank account.
Select Save
Complete 2-step verification
Enter the required business owner information:
First name and Last name: The business owner's first and last names, not the name of the business
Date of birth
Social security number (SSN)
Home street address, City, State, and Zip code: Must be a valid physical address and not a P.O. box
Email
Phone number
Drag and drop, or upload images of the front and back sides of your identification (ID) documents
Use bright and clear color photos of your government-issued ID, driver's license, or passport in JPG, PNG, or PDF format. Each file has a size limit of 10 MB.
The information in these documents must exactly match the business owner information you just entered

Before you continue, you need exactly the information that’s on your SS-4 form. Then, select Next.
Enter the required business information:
Legal business name: This is the legal name given to your business, as it appears on your SS-4 form issued by the IRS
Your legal business name consists of everything listed above your address on your form and can span several lines
Employer identification number (EIN): 9-digit identification number assigned to your business by the IRS
