Take the first step to getting paid through HoneyBook by connecting your bank account.

Connecting your bank account to HoneyBook is a key step to getting paid. Once connected, funds will be transferred directly to your account whenever a client pays you.


Connect your bank account

  1. Select your profile photo in the top right corner of your screen > select Company Settings

  2. Select the Bank Details tab

  3. Determine your business entity type

    • Individual: You own and run a business, but do not have an EIN (Employer Identification Number)

      • You use your social security number when filing your taxes

    • Sole Proprietor: You own and run a business and were issued an EIN

      • If you have filled out an SS-4 Form to register your business with the IRS, you have a government-issued EIN

      • If your organization is a registered nonprofit, select this entity type when connecting your bank account to HoneyBook

    • LLC-Partnership-Corp.: You pay taxes as an LLC, partnership, or corporation

      • If you have filled out an SS-4 Form to register your business with the IRS, you have a government-issued EIN

  4. Locate your business entity type and follow the remaining steps to complete the connection

How to connect accounts for each entity type

Individual

  1. From your Bank Details tab, select Individual as your business entity type

  2. Enter the required business information

    1. Business Name: Name under which you operate your business

    2. Website URL/Product Description: Active business URL or social media profile for your business

      1. Minimum 10 characters

      2. If neither a website nor a social media profile is available, write a detailed product description of what your business offers and how you collect payment for your services

    3. Merchant Category Code: 4-digit code assigned to you when you applied to accept credit cards, used to classify your business by the type of goods or services it provides

      1. HoneyBook does not provide this code to you

      2. Learn more about MCCs here

  3. Enter the required bank information

    1. Account number

    2. Routing number

    3. Bank name (e.g., Chase, American Express)

      • Do not enter the name of your bank account

  4. Select Save

  5. Complete 2-step verification

  6. Enter the required owner information

    1. Owner name

      1. The business owner's name, not the name of the business

    2. Date of birth

    3. Social security number (SSN)

    4. Personal address

      1. Must be a valid physical address and not a P.O. Box

    5. Email

    6. Phone

  7. Drag & drop or upload images for the front and back side of your identification document

    1. Use bright, clear photos of your ID, driver's license, or passport as a JPG, PNG, or PDF file

    2. The information in these documents must exactly match the information you entered in step 6

  8. Select SAVE


Sole proprietor

Note

Before you get started, you’ll need exactly the info that’s on your SS-4 form.

Legal business/entity name

  • Your legal business name consists of everything listed above your address on your SS-4 form

  • It can span several lines

  • In the example below, the legal business name is: ACME LLC THERESA LOPEZ-FITZGERALD SOLE MBR

  • This information is not visible to your clients and is used for verification purposes only

Employer Identification Number (EIN)

  1. From your Bank Details tab, select Sole Proprietor as your business entity type

  2. Before you continue, you’ll need exactly the info that’s on your SS-4 form

  3. Enter the required business information

    1. Legal business name: Legal name given to your business, as it appears on your SS-4 form issued by the IRS

      1. Your legal business name consists of everything listed above your address on your SS-4 form. It can span several lines

    2. Employer Identification Number (EIN): 9-digit identification number assigned to your business by the IRS

    3. Merchant Category Code: 4-digit code assigned to you when you applied to accept credit cards, used to classify your business by the type of goods or services it provides

      1. HoneyBook does not provide this code to you

      2. Learn more about MCCs here

    4. Website URL/Product Description: Active business URL or social media profile for your business

      1. If neither a website nor a social media profile is available, write a detailed product description of what your business offers and how you collect payment for your services

  4. Enter the required bank information

    1. Doing business as (DBA) name (optional)

    2. Account number

    3. Routing number

    4. Bank name (e.g., Chase, American Express)

      1. Do not enter the name of your bank account

  5. Select Save

  6. Complete 2-step verification

    1. Learn more about 2-step verification here

  7. Enter the required owner information

    1. Owner name

      1. The business owner's name, not the name of the business

    2. Date of birth

    3. Social security number (SSN)

    4. Personal address

      1. Must be a valid physical address and not a P.O. Box

    5. Email

    6. Phone

LLC-Partnership-Corp.

  8. Select SAVE

  9. *If you need to add another business owner, select + ADD ADDITIONAL OWNER

    1. Then, just follow steps 6-8 (above) for the additional owner’s details


After you’ve added your bank and business owner information, your details will begin a verification process. The verification process typically takes just a few minutes. If there are any errors or additional information is needed, you'll receive an email notification.

Once your details have been verified, client payments will be transferred directly to your bank account. If you received payments before connecting your bank account, the funds should start processing automatically.
